Where can I find the photos that have already been uploaded? Do they have a special category? 75.41.110.200 18:28, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

They aren't yet publicly viewable, as they need to be approved by the museums that they were taken in soon. That's taking a little longer than we hoped, but they should start being available soon. We'll have a page here that shows them, and also a category on Wikimedia Commons that contains them. Thanks for your patience with this. Mike Peel 10:45, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Maybe a silly question but why "they need to be approved by the museums that they were taken in"?--79.219.108.241 10:55, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
By request of some of the museums. They want to double-check that the information in the captions is correct, and that there are no copyright concerns, etc. Mike Peel 11:23, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
That's a silly idea. By all means, hold off uploading them to Wikimedia Commons until they're uploaded, but they should still be public on here. Wikipedia Loves Art had them publicly viewable on Flickr prior to release. 87.115.82.167 22:52, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Excellent initiative

I won't be able to get to any of the venues this time around, but feel I should express support. I know that you guys probably have plans for future events, I would hope that you are considering approaching the National Trust to secure an agreement for photography at each and all of their venues, and a preferential months membership for participating Wikipedians. Attached to that there are Heritage Open Days, and a Gardens scheme. Also major museums such as Chatham Historical Dockyard have much material unavailable for examination.. to have a magic key to all this would be wonderful. [edit] Herb Garret and Old Operating Theatre

I visited this museum, one of those participating. A charming jumble of artefacts, very casually labelled and a lot of things with no label at all. Does that mean only items with a proper label are eligible? The staff, volunteers I think, had vaguely heard about the scheme but knew nothing about it.

If there wasn't a label that you can photograph, then just upload the object photograph twice. The tricky thing then is to accurately work out what the object is, but if necessary that can be done by the museum during the checking process, or once the photographs are on Wikimedia. It shouldn't be held against anyone during the judging. Thanks. Mike Peel 17:05, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
